ZAMBOANGA CITY – Two-hundred twenty families from 12 barangays here are staying in evacuation centers due to heavy rains and strong winds from tropical storm ‘’Crising’’ and the southwest monsoon or ‘’habagat’’ on Thursday, July 18.
The City Social Welfare and Development Office said 981 individuals were affected.
They are residents of Barangay Maasin, Labuan, Tigtabon, Pangapuyan, and Pasonanca.
A motorist was injured when an old macopa tree fell on him while he was passing by Alejo Alvarez St. in Barangay Zone 1.
Two trees fell in Barangay Tumaga, one of which on top of a school building.
Two houses were blown away while 19 others were damaged due to strong winds and huge waves.
Four boats ran aground on the shores of Barangay Maasin while a huge vessel veered just adjacent to RT Lim Boulevard.
