Major cities in Metro Manila declared the suspension of classes on Friday, July 18, due to moderate and heavy rains brought about by Tropical Depression Crising and the southwest monsoon or Habagat.
Citing data from the Department of Science and Technology- Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (DOST-PAGASA) and the assessment of a weather specialist of the Manila City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, the City of Manila did not declare any suspension of classes
Valenzuela City
In Valenzuela City, the city government ordered the suspension of classes in public and private schools from Kindergarten to Senior High School (SHS).
Classes at the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Valenzuela (PLV) and Valenzuela City Technological College (ValTech) were also suspended. For other colleges and universities, the decision on class suspension will be at the discretion of their respective school administrations.
Malabon City
The local government of Malabon also suspended all classes for both public and private schools on Friday.
Residents were advised to stay alert and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety.
Caloocan City
Mayor Dale “Along” Malapitan announced the suspension of classes in all levels for both public and private schools due to expected rains brought about by tropical depression “Crising."
San Juan City
San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora also suspended classes at all levels in both private and public schools in the city in anticipation of heavy rains brought about by “Crising" and the enhanced habagat.
Mandaluyong City
Classes in all levels in both public and private schools were also suspended in Mandaluyong City due to the storm and the enhanced habagat.
Mayor Menchie Abalos advised residents to monitor the city's official Facebook page for updates and announcements.
Marikina City
The local government of Marikina also suspended classes in all levels in both public and private schools due to the expected continuous rainfall.
"Mahalaga ang kaligtasan at kapakanan ng ating mga mag-aaral. Maging alerto at patuloy na sumubaybay sa mga opisyal na abiso ng Pamahalaang Lungsod (The safety and well-being of our students is important. Be alert and continue to monitor official announcements from the City Government)," Marikina City Mayor Maan Teodoro said.
Pasig City
In Pasig City, in-person classes from kindergarten to senior high school, including Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) centers and the Alternative Learning System (ALS), are suspended in both public and private schools.
Meanwhile, the decision to suspend classes in colleges and universities was left to the discretion of their respective administrators.
Parañaque City
The city government of Parañaque announced the suspension of classes on Friday, July 18, both in private and public schools, due to the possible effects of the southwesterly monsoon (Habagat) and Tropical Storm Crising.
Parañaque City Mayor Edwin Olivarez ordered the suspension of classes based on the recommendation of the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office to keep students safe.
Cavite
Cavite Gov. Abeng Remulla announced the suspension of classes on Friday, July 18, due to unfavorable weather brought by Tropical Storm Crising.
Classes are cancelled at all levels, in public and private schools.
In his Facebook announcement, the governor also reminded his constituents, especially those in low-lying areas and coastal regions, to be cautious and vigilant.
“Mag-ingat, maging alerto, at iwasang lumabas kung hindi kinakailangan. Kaligtasan muna bago lahat! (Be cautious, stay alert, and avoid going out unless necessary. Safety first above all!),” Remulla said.
“Habang walang pasok, puwedeng: Linisin ang kwarto (yes, ’yung matagal mo nang pinaplano), tumulong kay nanay sa mga gawaing bahay, mag-review at tapusin na ang mga natenggang modules (oo, ‘yan mismo). Stay dry. Stay safe. Mag-ingat po tayong lahat, mga Caviteño! (While classes are suspended, you can: clean your room [yes, the one you've been planning to do for a while], help your mom with household chores, review, and finally finish those neglected modules [yes, those ones]. Stay dry. Stay safe. Let’s all be careful, Caviteños!)," he added.
Residents near mountain slopes and low-lying areas of local river systems were advised to stay alert for possible landslides and flash floods.
Rizal
The Rizal Provincial Government has suspended face-to-face classes in all levels, for both public and private in the entire province of Rizal for Friday, July 18, as a precautionary measure in relation to the possible effect of Tropical Depression Crising and southwest monsoon in the province.
Rizal Governor Nina Ricci Ynares announced the class suspension before 10 p.m. on Thursday.
The governor said schools are encouraged to shift to modular distance learning and reminded the students to stay at home and be mindful of their safety especially during bad weather.
Earlier, the local chief executives of the majority of the government units in the province had issued class suspension in their respective localities in anticipation of the inclement weather on Friday, July 18.
As of 11 p.m. Rizal Province has not been placed under warning signal but the possibility of flooding and its related hazards are usually being considered by local authorities in issuing suspension of classes.
Pasay City
The city government of Pasay City announced the suspension of classes in all levels, both in private and public schools, on Friday, July 18.
Pasay City Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano advised residents that in case of emergency, they may contact the Pasay City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office at telephone numbers: 09054939111 / 85517777 / 88338512 for assistance.
Muntinlupa City
Muntinlupa Mayor Ruffy Biazon suspended face-to-face classes in all levels in public and private schools for July 18 due to tropical depression “Crising.”
“Bilang pag-iingat sa posibleng epekto ng Bagyong #CrisingPH, suspended ang face-to-face classes sa lahat ng antas, public at private schools, sa Muntinlupa bukas, July 18, 2025 (As a precaution against the possible impact of Typhoon #CrisingPH, face-to-face classes in all levels, public and private schools, in Muntinlupa are suspended),” he announced on July 17.
He added, “Minabuti nating magpatupad ng class suspension para makaiwas sa anumang abala o panganib dulot ng masamang panahon. Pinapayuhan ang mga paaralan na magpatupad ng alternatibong paraan ng pag-aaral tulad ng online o modular learning kung kinakailangan. Paalala po sa lahat: Maging alerto, ugaliing sumubaybay sa official advisories, at siguraduhing ligtas ang inyong mga tahanan at pamilya (We have decided to implement class suspension to avoid any inconvenience or danger caused by inclement weather. Schools are advised to implement alternative learning methods such as online or modular learning if necessary. Reminder to everyone: Be alert, make it a habit to follow official advisories, and make sure your homes and families are safe).
Las Piñas
The Las Piñas City government announced the suspension of face-to-face classes in all levels, both in private and public schools, on Friday, July 18, due to Habagat enhanced by tropical depression Crising.
Pre-disaster risk assessment was also conducted under the directive of Las Piñas Mayor April Aguilar and Vice Mayor Imelda Aguilar in preparation for the possible impact of south winds intensified by typhoon Crising.
Aguilar convened the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office and the 20 Barangay DRRMC to be prepared.
Aguilar reminded residents to be prepared and alert, especially in areas with a high risk of flooding.
Pateros
Pateros Mayor Gerald German suspended classes for July 18 in all levels in public and private schools in the municipality due to tropical depression “Crising.”
“Suspendido po ang klase sa lahat ng antas sa pampubliko at pribadong mga paaralan sa Bayan ng Pateros bukas, ika-18 ng Hulyo 2025 (Biyernes), dahil sa inaasahang patuloy na masamang panahon na magdudulot ng Monsoon Rains sanhi ng bagyong #CrisingPH ayon sa weather forecast ng PAGASA (Classes at all levels in public and private schools in the Town of Pateros are suspended tomorrow, July 18, 2025 (Friday), due to the expected continued bad weather that will bring Monsoon Rains caused by typhoon #CrisingPH according to the weather forecast of PAGASA),” German said in an advisory issued on July 17.
He added, “Pinapayuhan po ang lahat lalo na ang ating mga mag-aaral na manatili na lamang sa loob ng kani-kanilang mga tahanan at mangyaring isagawa po natin ang ibayong pag-iingat. (We advise everyone, especially our students, to stay inside their homes and please exercise extra caution).”
Taguig City
The Taguig City government suspended face-to-face classes from Kindergarten to Grade 12 in public and private schools for July 18 due to tropical depression “Crising.”
“Due to the enhanced Southwest Monsoon and the effects brought by Tropical Depression ‘Crising,’ in-person classes from Kinder to Grade 12 (public and private schools) are suspended in Taguig City tomorrow, Friday, July 18. All affected classes are advised to shift to modular learning,” the city government announced on July 17.
It added, “Moderate to heavy rainfall is expected, which may cause flooding in several areas. This suspension is a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of students and school personnel.”
Bulacan
The emergency response units of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) have been placed on alert for the impending effects of Tropical Depression Crising.
For the safety of all learners, in-person classes from Kindergarten to Grade 12, both public and private were suspended on Friday, July 18.
Local DRRM officer Ret. Col. Manuel Lukban Jr., said the schools are instructed to implement alternative learning modalities, which must be monitored by school heads and supervisors. This measure is being undertaken to prevent risks associated with flooding, road hazards, and other rain-induced threats.
Lukban also advised the public to remain indoors, monitor official weather updates from PAGASA, and stay alert for further announcements from the City Government and local school authorities.
Face-to-face classes were suspended in the cities of San Jose Del Monte, Malolos, Meycauayan and Baliuag, and in the towns of Angat, Balagtas, Bocaue, Bulakan, Bustos, Calumpit, Guiguinto, Hagonoy, Marilao, Norzagaray, Obando, Pandi, Paombong, Plaridel, Pulilan, San Ildefonso, and Santa Maria.
