Manila Water relocates pipeline to give way to subway station construction in Quezon City
Making way for the construction of the Department of Transportation’s (DOTr) Metro Manila Subway Project, Razon-led East Zone concessionaire Manila Water Co. Inc. announced it has successfully relocated its key pipeline in Quezon City during the first half of 2025.
In a statement on Friday, July 18, Manila Water said it began relocation works for its waterline to help facilitate the construction of the subway’s Anonas Station through an open-cut excavation and installation of the 100-millimeter diameter high-density polyethylene (HDPE) pipeline.
The new line spans approximately 330 linear meters along the streets of J. Bugallon, F. Castillo, and E. Evangelista.
Construction works were initiated last March and were completed in April, which ensured fewer water disruptions, avoided more operational costs, and enabled the efficient provision of clean and reliable water to residents and businesses in the areas affected.
The DOTr is currently developing Contract Package 103 (CP103), which includes Anonas and Camp Aguinaldo stations.
The subway project will be the Philippines’ first mass underground transit system, featuring 17 stations in Valenzuela City, Quezon City, Pasig City, Mandaluyong City, Taguig City, and Parañaque City.
Jeric Sevilla, Manila Water’s corporate communications director, assured that the concessionaire’s relocation not only helped make space for construction works but also ensured water reliability in the area.
“By relocating our waterline ahead of time, we not only enabled the timely construction of a vital transportation hub but also ensured uninterrupted water service for the communities we serve,” he said.
Manila Water further expressed support for the transportation project, as it hoped that it would ease traffic congestion, shorten travel times, and improve the daily commute once operations begin.
