BACOLOD CITY – A 40-year-old man was allegedly shot and killed by his friend over a P1,500 debt in Barangay Matab-ang, Talisay City, Negros Occidental on Wednesday, July 16.
Police Lt. Col. Alvin Christopher Baybayan, Talisay City police chief, said the 48-year-old suspect and the victim chanced upon each other in the area.
The victim reminded the suspect of his unpaid debt, resulting in an altercation where the suspect shot the victim in the chest with an unlicensed homemade black widow revolver with 9mm caliber bullets.
The suspect fled and he, accompanied by his wife, surrendered to the police on Thursday morning, July 17.
In a media interview on Thursday, Baybayan said they were able to convince the suspect to surrender and face his case.
