Kidnap-for-ransom suspect arrested during Manila police patrol
A 28-year-old man wanted for kidnap-for-ransom was arrested by Manila Police District (MPD) operatives during a routine patrol and clearing operation in Sta. Cruz, Manila.
The suspect, identified as alias Ian, was apprehended at the corner of Gonzalo Puyat and Rizal Avenue on July 13 after a concerned citizen reported a man causing a disturbance in the area.
According to MPD Station 3 Plaza Miranda Sector 1 commander Police Major John Peter Fallar, police officers responded and caught the suspect in the act of aggressively confronting passersby.
Police learned that the suspect had become irate after a buyer refused to purchase the motorcycle he was trying to sell due to its defective ignition and questionable condition.
Due to the suspect’s erratic behavior, he was brought to the police station for verification.
Background checks revealed that alias Ian had a standing warrant of arrest for kidnapping issued by the Regional Trial Court Branch 8 of La Trinidad, Benguet, dated July 8, 2025.
According to police records, the suspect was involved in the kidnapping of a farmer in April 2025 in La Trinidad, Benguet. The victim was reportedly held in General Trias, Cavite while the suspects demanded ransom in the form of marijuana from the victim’s family.
