KALIBO, Aklan – More than 17,100 persons have been affected by the “habagat” (southwest monsoon) intensified by tropical storm “Crising” in Western Visayas.
The Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council-6 said affected persons were from 56 barangays in Antique, Aklan, and Iloilo. Most were affected by flooding and landslide.
As of 4 p.m. on Friday, Antique had the highest number of affected with 13,436, followed by Aklan with 3,323; Capiz, 271, and Iloilo, 80.
The Office of Civil Defense-6, which oversees the RDRRMC-6, noted the number may be higher as local government units (LGUs) are still submitting reports and rain continues as of Friday evening.
