What was intended to be a romantic moment captured on the Kiss Cam during a Coldplay concert has sparked allegations of an affair.
During the band's performance at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, on Wednesday, Chris Martin serenaded the crowd with an improvised version of "The Jumbotron Song," where he sang about couples featured live on the big screen, according to a report by Fox News.
One couple's reaction caught the frontman's attention, prompting a comment.
“Wow, look at this couple,” Martin, 48, said as a man and woman cozied up to each other, Fox News also reported.
As soon as the attention shifted to the couple, the woman quickly turned away and avoided the camera. The man also left the frame.
"Either they are having an affair, or they are just very shy," Martin joked, eliciting laughter from the audience.
It turned out that the gray-haired man and blonde woman are Astronomer CEO Andy Byron and his Chief People Officer, Kristin Cabot. Astronomer is a New York-based tech firm, according to Fox News.
The report added that Byron is the CEO of Astronomer, a cybersecurity startup, and, according to her LinkedIn profile, Cabot is the company's Chief Human Resources Officer. They have worked closely together for years.
Following the incident, Coldplay has announced a designated camera-free section for their next gig.
