BALER, Aurora – The Aurora Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) has raised its alert level to blue, activating its Emergency Operations Center (EOC) and initiating full-scale preparedness for tropical depression ‘’Crising.’’
The cyclone continues to affect the northern and central municipalities of the province as of posting time.
As of 6 p.m. Thursday, the PDRRMC is operating 24/7, coordinating closely with local government units (LGUs), national response agencies, and lifeline utilities.
An essential pre-disaster risk assessment (PDRA) and planning session was led by Assistant PDRRM Officer Engr. Leandro M. Dunca at the Governor's Conference Hall in Baler.
As of 5 p.m. Thursday, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said tropical cyclone wind sgnal No. 1 remains hoisted over the towns of Dilasag, Casiguran, Dinalungan, Dipaculao, and Baler, which are currently experiencing cloudy skies and occasional light rains.
Despite the alert, no casualties, flooding, or structural damage have been reported.
A province-wide power interruption from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. was implemented as a non-storm-related precautionary measure and led to class suspensions.
Classes in public and private schools were suspended in Baler, Maria Aurora, Dingalan, and Dinalungan.
Kindergarten classes in Dipaculao, Dilasag, and Casiguran were suspended under Department of Education Memorandum No. 22, Series of 2024, in compliance with TCWS No. 1 guidelines.
The Philippine Coast Guard–Aurora suspended sea travel for motorized bancas and fishing vessels due to rough conditions and strongly advised coastal communities and fisherfolk to avoid all sea-related activities.
In anticipation of potential emergencies, significant resources have been mobilized, including over 25,000 family food packs, along with hygiene, kitchen, modular tent, sleeping, water filtration kits, and jerry cans.
The Department of Health pre-positioned P2 million worth of medical supplies and deployed health emergency teams in all eight municipalities.
Rescue equipment and vehicles from the PDRRMO, 91st Infantry “Sinagtala” Battalion of the Philippine Army, Philippine Coast Guard, and Philippine Red Cross are on standby for rapid deployment. All municipal DRRMOs have activated their EOCs under blue alert, continuously monitoring river systems, low-lying areas, and coastal zones.
Localized efforts include Dipaculao activating barangay-level EOCs, implementing a “no swimming and no fishing” policy, and using siren blasts for early warnings.
Casiguran has reviewed contingency plans and assessed evacuation center readiness, while Baler has suspended tourism activities, initiated preemptive evacuations in flood-prone and coastal areas, and raised red gale warning flags.
PDRRMC Chairperson Gov. Reynante Tolentino has issued Memorandum Nos. 2025-35 and 2025-36, formalizing the alert status elevation and directing agencies to mobilize personnel and resources. (PNA)
