The report covered consumption and sales for the period Jan. 3 to July 3 this year.
The 2025 Luminate Midyear Music Report showed that in the first half of the year, US total album consumption (album, track equivalent album, streaming equivalent album on-demand audio) rose to 558.9 million, up by 3.9 percent compared to 537.9 million for the period Dec. 29, 2023 to June 27 last year.
Total album sales (physical and digital) in the US decreased to 41 million in the first half of 2025 compared to 43.6 million last year.
Digital album sales in the US were also down 17.7 percent to 6.8 million in the first half of the year from 8.3 million.
Physical album sales (LP, CD and cassette) in the US dropped by 3.2 percent to 34.2 million from 35.3 million.
K-pop artists Stray Kids, ENHYPEN, ATEEZ, Seventeen, Le Sserafim and BLACKPINK’s Rosé placed in the top 10 midyear charts.
In the Global Top 10 Songs based on on-demand audio streams, Rosé and Bruno Mars’ hit track “APT.” ranked second with 1.624 billion audio streams.
In the midyear US Top 10 Albums based on total sales, Stray Kids’ “Hop” ranked No. 8 with 149,000 in sales followed by ENHYPEN’s “Desire : Unleash” at No. 9 with 145,000.
In the midyear US Top 10 CD Albums chart based on total sales, Stray Kids’ “Hope” is in second place with 149,000 in sales.
ENHYPEN’s “Desire : Unleash” is No. 3 with 145,000 in sales, followed by ATEEZ’s “Golden Hour : Part.3” at No. 4 with 116,000; Seventeen’s “Happy Burstday” at No. 7 with 79,000; and Le Sserafim’s “Hot” at No. 9 with 73,000.
In the midyear US Top 10 Radio Songs chart based on audience, “APT.” ranked No. 10 with 1.11 billion audience.
