BACOLOD CITY – More than 800 individuals or 250 families have been affected by flooding due to heavy rains from tropical depression ‘’Crising’’ in Negros Occidental, the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office said on Thursday.
Majority of them are in Isabela town, with 429 residents or 132 families in Barangays 1, 5, 8, Maytubig, Rumirang, and Tinongan.
There were 181 persons or 56 families in Barangays Pook, Asia, Culipapa, and Bulwagan in Hinoba-an; 110 individuals or 36 families in Barangay Caliling, Cauayan, and 124 persons or 30 families in Moises Padilla.
One barangay in Binalbagan was affected.
Seven hundred thirty-eight persons are staying inside evacuation centers while others sought temporary refuge with their relatives.
Flooding was reported in Hinoba-an, Cauayan, Kabankalan City, Himamaylan City, Binalbagan, Ilog, Moises Padilla, Hinigaran, and Sipalay City, affecting 23 barangays.
Most of the flooded areas had two to three-feet water while one barangay in Kabankalan City had knee-level water.
Some rivers in Ilog town, La Castellana, Hinigaran, and Sipalay are impassable due to flooding and landslides.
A total blackout affected 16 barangays in Sipalay City on Wednesday night, July 16. Power supply has not been restored in Barangay San Jose as of 11 a.m. Thursday.
