Despite their seemingly affectionate rapport onstage, as made obvious via their much-talked-about concert tour across North America last year, Sharon Cuneta candidly revealed that she and former husband Gabby Concepcion aren’t exactly friends.
Clarifying their relationship status, Sharon told ANC’s “Beyond the Exchange,” “We’re okay. When you say friends kasi it means keeping in touch constantly and checking up on each other. In that sense, we’re not. But we get along, we’re older na and we have a daughter (KC Concepcion).”
While fans were thrilled to see the former couple reunited and sweet toward each other during performances, Sharon said things were very different behind the scenes.
Sharon shared, “It’s so funny because from the day we left Manila it was separate flights all throughout the tour and separate car rides. The only time we were together traveling was on our flight back home from Vancouver.”
Sharon emphasized that there’s no animosity between them — just clear boundaries.
“It was better that way,” she said. “Not for anything but to kind of keep it uncomplicated.”
According to the singer-actress, she and Gabby got along well during the tour and were professional throughout the experience. However, beyond the stage, they didn’t interact much.
“We were okay, we were so sweet on stage but in reality, we only saw each other on stage when we did the soundcheck. We never spent time together in between the shows.”
She added that exchanging brief greetings like “see you" and "take care” is enough for both of them.
