Strong Group Athletics rolled to a commanding 107-75 win over Chinese Taipei White to go five in a row in the 44th William Jones Cup at the Taipei Heping Basketball Gymnasium in Taiwan Thursday, July 17.
Tajuan Agee waxed hot early and scored 25 points on a 10-of-12 shooting before Javi Gómez de Liaño capped off SGA’s first-half scoring barrage with back-to-back triples for a 61-33 lead that took the fight out of the Taiwanese side up to the next two quarters.
The Charles Tiu-mentored squad remained unblemished with a 5-0 card and still behind leader Bahrain (6-0). Taipei White, meanwhile, absorbed its third loss in five outings.
Despite playing for consecutive days, the reigning champion SGA has no plans of slowing down as it goes for its sixth straight victory against Malaysia on Friday, July 18.
Aside from his offensive contributions, Agee also posted six rebounds, three assists, two steals and one block. Ian Miller backstopped him with 13 points.
Rhenz Abando, Dave Ildefonso, and Gómez de Liaño added 10 points each.
All players from SGA delivered in the scoring department, aside from Andre Roberson and Ange Kouame who took advantage of the breakaway for a well-deserved rest in the sidelines.
