The Las Piñas City Council held its inaugural session on Monday, July 14, marking the beginning of its legislative term led by Vice Mayor Imelda Aguilar.
Aguilar was joined by Mayor April Aguilar and newly proclaimed councilors from Districts 1 and 2 - Councilors Alelee Aguilar Andanar, Henry Medina, Macky Saito, Mac Mac Santos, Robert Cristobal, Ruben Ramos, Eric De Leon, Albie Aguilar, Lord Aguilar, Jess Bustamante, and Danok Hernandez. Also present were Liga ng mga Barangay President Jose Mauricio Riguera, Sangguniang Kabataan Federation Chair Rey Angelo Reyes, and the city department heads.
The City Councilors took their oaths and began their work by adopting two foundational measures for the operation of the legislative body. The Council passed Draft Resolution No. 4446-25 adopting the Internal Rules of Procedure of the 13th Sangguniang Panlungsod to ensure the orderly conduct of council proceedings in accordance with legislative norms and practices.
The council also approved Draft Resolution No. 4447-25, which formally recognized the election of officers, chairpersons, and members of the various standing committees within the Sangguniang Panlungsod.
The vice mayor said the approved committee structure provides the framework for handling specific policy areas, including health, infrastructure, appropriations, and education, among others.
Aguilar said the 13th Council is expected to continue the legislative momentum established by its predecessor, focusing on development initiatives and local ordinances that address the needs of Las Piñas residents.
She said that with the foundational structure now in place, regular sessions will proceed in the coming weeks.
