'Young Guns' member Adiong has simple advice for 'House Hotshots'

Lanao del Sur 1st district Rep. Zia Alonto Adiong, an established member of the House "Young Guns" bloc, gave a simple yet useful advice to the new clique, the "House Hotshots".
Although hesitant at first, Adiong took on the role of "kuya" (big brother) to this new group and offered some words of wisdom, specifically on how to break out as lawmakers.
"Mahirap po kasi mag-advice eh, kasi pag sinabi pong legislation, kanya-kanya pong plataporma at agendas (It’s difficult to give advice because when you say legislation, you have your own platform and agendas)," he said.
"Ang aking po masasabi is just (What I can say is just) let us commit ourselves to our mandate as legislators, let us bring out what we can best contribute to the people and let's focus our attention to our job. Yun lang naman po (That is all)," added Adiong.
The Young Guns--comprised of either young or neophyte solons---broke out in the middle of the previous 19th Congress thanks fo their willingness to participate in high-profile inquiries such as the one carried out by the quad-committee (quad-comm), as well as air opinions on controversial personalities like Vice President Sara Duterte.
They also figured prominently in the House’s pursuit to pass the priority bills of the Marcos administration.
The Hotshots are composed of Tingog Party-list Rep. Andrew Julian Romualdez, 25; FPJ Panday Bayanihan Party-list Rep. Brian Poe, 33; Batangas 6th district Rep. Ryan Recto, 29; Negros Occidental 3rd district Rep. Javier Miguel "Javi" Benitez, 30; and Batangas 1st district Rep. Leandro Legarda Leviste, 32.
They are also rookies in the House of Representatives, but with famous parents.
"I am excited to work with the neophytes. I'm sure marami po silang mai-introduce at mai-contribute po sa larangan ng legislation sa 20th Congress (I'm sure they can introduce and contribute a lot to the field of legislation in the 20th Congress)," Adiong said.
