TNVS driver suspended after pulling knife on couple over drop-off dispute in Manila
A transport network vehicle service (TNVS) driver has been suspended and issued a show cause order by the Department of Transportation (DOTr) after allegedly threatening a couple with a knife over a drop-off dispute in Barangay 293, Manila.
The incident took place when a couple booked a ride through a ride-hailing app and were dropped off at what they claimed was the wrong location.
According to the passengers, they had correctly pinned their destination in the app, but the driver insisted that they had arrived at the correct drop-off point.

The disagreement escalated after the couple stepped out of the vehicle.
CCTV footage from Barangay 293 showed the driver exiting to return their change.
Moments later, the footage captured the driver retrieving something from inside his vehicle which turned out to be a knife, and allegedly pointing it at the male passenger.
The female passenger was seen on video shouting and calling for help.
The alarming scene drew the attention of bystanders, and the couple was able to distance themselves safely.
Barangay officials and the Manila Police District responded to the report, and the incident was immediately escalated to authorities.
The DOTr confirmed that the driver’s TNVS accreditation has been suspended and that he has been issued a show cause order, requiring him to explain his actions or face possible revocation of his license and TNVS eligibility.
The ride-hailing company involved has also removed the driver from their system pending investigation.
Authorities are reviewing all evidence, including CCTV footage and witness statements, and are preparing possible criminal charges for grave threat and illegal possession of a deadly weapon.
Commuters are urged to report any threats or harassment experienced during TNVS rides to the proper authorities and use the safety features available within the app.
