Guns seized from buy-and-sell agent, helper in Lipa City

Drone aids in arrest of suspect during pursuit

LIPA CITY, Batangas – Undocumented firearms were seized from a 29-year-old buy-and-sell agent and a 27-year-old helper here on July 13.

Police Lt. Col. Aleli Cuyan-Buaquen, officer-in-charge of the Lipa City police station, said patrolling lawmen noticed a black motorcycle without a license plate that experienced mechanical trouble.
Police approached but the motorcycle driver fled and his back rider was left behind and arrested.
The suspect yielded an Armscor caliber .9mm pistol with serial number 1240566 loaded with one chambered round and a magazine containing eight live bullets.
Police launched a drone to look for the other suspect who was arrested and yielded a Springfield Armory caliber .45 pistol with serial number 102572, loaded with one chambered round and a magazine containing six bullets.
The suspects are under police custody and face appropriate charges.
Charcoal-maker shot dead in Quezon
DOLORES, Quezon – A 24-year-old charcoal maker was shot dead while working in Barangay Antonino here on Tuesday night.
Police identified the victim as Kenneth Roxas, single.
Investigation said a man suddenly appeared and shot the victim at 7 p.m.
Roxas died on the spot and the suspect fled. Follow-up investigation is ongoing.
