Geely Philippines has introduced two new energy vehicles to its local portfolio: the all-electric EX5 and the updated mild-hybrid Okavango Elite. The official launch was held at The Blue Leaf Cosmopolitan in Robinsons Bridgetowne, Quezon City, marking a new phase in the brand’s local operations since transitioning to a direct subsidiary model earlier this year.
Geely EX5
The Geely EX5, the company’s first fully electric SUV in the country, headlines the launch. Priced at ₱1,799,000, the EX5 was developed under Geely’s Global Intelligent New Energy Architecture platform and showcases a shift toward a more minimalist design language. Compared to the brand’s previous styling direction, the EX5 adopts a sleeker and more refined aesthetic, complemented by features such as full LED lighting, a continuous rear light bar, a power tailgate, flush door handles, and a panoramic sunroof.
In terms of size, the EX5 is slightly larger than many compact electric SUVs on the market, offering more cabin space and a higher ground clearance for everyday road conditions. The vehicle is powered by a single electric motor producing 218 PS and 320 Nm of torque. Geely claims it can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.9 seconds and reach a top speed of 170 km/h. It has a claimed range of up to 430 kilometers on a full charge.
Charging capabilities include a rapid 30 to 80 percent top-up in just 20 minutes, thanks to an 11-in-1 intelligent electric drive system and battery management optimized for energy efficiency. The vehicle also qualifies for a green license plate under the Philippine Electric Vehicle Industry Development Act, making it exempt from number coding and eligible for other EV-related incentives.
Inside, the EX5 features a modern, all-black cabin with a panoramic 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster and a large 15.4-inch center touchscreen. It also includes a 16-speaker Flyme sound system, front-row massage seats, a rotary shift knob on a high center console, and a wireless charger. The car integrates Geely’s Flyme Auto smart cockpit, offering voice control in ten languages, a 13.8-inch head-up display, a 360-degree panoramic parking camera, and a transparent chassis view.
In terms of safety, the EX5 has received five-star ratings from both Euro NCAP and ANCAP. The model incorporates a CTB (cell-to-body) battery structure, enhancing its structural rigidity. It is equipped with a suite of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), including lane-keeping assist, automatic emergency braking, and adaptive cruise control.
Geely has confirmed that early buyers of the EX5 will receive a ₱110,000 introductory discount and a Meizu smartphone equipped with the Flyme operating system, valued at around ₱10,000. This offer is limited to the first 100 units purchased before September 25, 2025, with smartphone deliveries scheduled to begin in August 2025.
Geely Okavango Elite
Alongside the EX5, Geely has also unveiled the refreshed Okavango, now called the Okavango Elite, which is being offered at a new price of ₱1,368,000, with a ₱100,000 introductory discount bringing it down further for a limited time. The Okavango Elite continues to offer three rows of seating with seven fully independent seats, positioning it as one of the most spacious and versatile family SUVs in its segment. The mild-hybrid powertrain remains unchanged, delivering 193 PS and 300 Nm of torque.
Updates to the Okavango include a redesigned grille with vertical slats, a revised instrument cluster, and new seat stitching. The vehicle also benefits from enhanced safety features, including a high-strength steel body structure and a wide-angle 360-degree camera system. Maximum cargo capacity is rated at 2,050 liters, offering flexibility for a range of uses from family trips to small-scale logistics. It remains unclear whether the facelifted Okavango, which debuted in 2022 with a 2-liter turbocharged engine, will eventually be offered in the Philippine market.
Both of these newly introduced models reflect Geely’s intention to address two of the most pressing needs for Filipino motorists: urban electric mobility and practical family transport. "This new chapter is about putting the driver first—with vehicles built for real-world roads and everyday routines," said Sylva Yu, CEO of Geely Motor Philippines. "These cars aren’t just feature-rich. They’re built with insight into how Filipinos actually move. It’s about being smart, relevant, and ready for the roads we drive every day."
The company’s shift to direct local operations is expected to streamline its decision-making process, enabling quicker responses to market demands while bringing its global technology closer to Philippine customers. Geely has also invested in after-sales support, including an accessible warehouse in Cabuyao, Laguna, with US$5 million worth of ready-to-use parts. Additional warehouse facilities are planned for the Visayas and Mindanao to improve nationwide logistics and service capability.
