FPJ Panday Bayanihan Party-list Rep. Brian Poe has moved to bestow House commendation to the fishermen of Pangasinan, Ilocos Norte, and Zambales for voluntarily surrendering to authorities packs of "shabu" found floating in local waters.
Poe, a member of the "House Hotshots", specifically deemed as commendable the fishermen's honesty, integrity, and patriotic conduct in turning over the recovered illegal drugs.
"This act of patriotism and unshakable honesty, in the face of great temptation, serves as a powerful reminder that true heroism is often found in the daily lives of ordinary citizens who choose to do what is right when no one is watching," the neophyte solon said in House Resolution (HR) No.50.
"Therefore, be it resolved, as it is hereby resolved, that the House of Representatives, commend the fisherfolk of Agno, Bani, and Bolinao in Pangasinan; Laoag and Pagudpud in Ilocos Norte; and Masinloc in Zambales, for their extraordinary honesty, integrity, and patriotism in voluntarily surrendering floating packs of shabu, and for demonstrating that even in quiet comers of the country, the spirit of heroism is alive and well," HR No.50 read.
The measure becomes the sense of the 300-plus strong House of Representatives once it is adopted in plenary. Plenary session will resume in the current 20th Congress on July 28.
The same fishermen were earlier commended by Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Regional Offices I and IIl.
"Such acts of- voluntary surrender of illegal contraband demonstrate the critical role of citizens in the national anti-drug campaign and affirm the continuing relevance of bayanihan and collective vigilance in securing our communities," Poe's resolution read.
"it is only fitting and proper that the House of Representatives honor and commend these individuals whose selfless acts exemplify the ideals of Bagong Pilipinas and set a worthy example for all Filipinos to follow," it further said.
