The increase in the trust ratings of President Marcos and Leyte 1st district Rep. Martin Romualdez affirms the effective leadership of the two top Philippine officials.
Thus, said La Union 1st district Rep. Paolo Ortega, who further called the results of the latest Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey as a vote of confidence in the impressive performance of the administration under Marcos and the House under its 19th Congress Speaker, Romualdez.
“This significant increase in the level of trust in President Marcos Jr. and in the House of the People reflects growing popular support for the strong leadership of the President and Speaker Romualdez,” Ortega, a senior deputy majority leader of the 19th Congress, said.
Romualdez is arguably Marcos' top lieutenant in the legislature, if not the entire bureaucracy.
The latest SWS figures showed that President Marcos' trust rating jumped by 12 percentage points, from 36 percent in April this year, to 48 percent in June.
The same survey showed that the House trust rating climbed by 23 percentage points over the last three months of the 19th Congress, or from 34 percent in April to 57 percent in June.
The SWS poll also reflects a similar increase in the trust level of then-Speaker Romualdez over the same period, or from 23 percent in April to 34 percent in June.
“We are happy for our President, our leader in the House and for all of us, members of the House, because the increases in the trust levels of our President, our Speaker and the House of the People also mean that the public appreciates what we have been trying to do for them, which, in general, is to improve, through legislative and constituency measures, their quality of life,” Ortega said.
“We are specially glad for Speaker Romualdez, since this remarkable ratings improvement augurs well for his continued leadership of the House in the incoming 20th Congress, which is convening in 12 days,” they said.
Romualdez is reportedly assured of the votes of a supermajority of House members on July 28, when the 20th Congress convenes and the larger chamber elects its new leaders.
