ILOILO CITY – A couple was allegedly stabbed to death by their son-in-law after they confronted him over his new girlfriend in Barangay Aguilar, San Lorenzo town, Guimaras province on Monday night, July 14.
Police Capt. Joje Gania, chief of the San Lorenzo Municipal Station, identified the victims as Jose and Estelita
Casamayor, both 68.Gania said the victims confronted the suspect, Raymund Quingan, 39, after he let his new girlfriend live in his house with his children, months after the suspect’s wife, the victims’ daughter, died in 2024.
The suspect’s decision resulted in conflict between the suspect’s three children and in-laws.
Quingan visited the house of his in-laws on Monday night and had a drinking spree.
The victims went to a nearby sari-sari store with Quingan’s three children.
The drunk suspect followed the victims and the children to the store and asked the kids to go home with him. The children refused and decided to stay with their grandparents.
Quingan was irked and went home to get a knife. He proceeded to the victims’ home and stabbed Estelita 12 times then Jose, who sustained four knife wounds. The Casamayors eventually died.
Police arrested the suspect in a follow-up operation and detained at the San Lorenzo Municipal Police Station. Quingan faces appropriate cases.
