ILOILO CITY — Police Col. Bayani Razalan returned as police chief of Iloilo province two months after his removal.
The Police Regional Office-6 announced Monday evening the reinstatement of Razalan as director of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO), which oversees police units in 42 towns and a component city.
“We welcome the return of Col. Razalan to Iloilo with much enthusiasm. His familiarity with the province and his outstanding service record will certainly reinforce our efforts to uphold law and order,” said PRO-6 Director Police Brig. Gen. Josefino Ligan in a statement.
“I am confident that his leadership will bring about more impactful programs and stronger community partnerships,” added Ligan.
Razalan was removed as IPPO director last May 11 or the day before the local and national elections.
Camp Crame requested the Commission on Elections (Comelec) to remove Razalan, who allegedly got the ire of a politician when police were deployed during the releasing of government financial aid in Passi City last April 14.
For two months, the IPPO was under the helm of Police Col. Rolando Bulalacao.
