GOV. Umali (FB)
The provincial government of Nueva Ecija vowed to continue its price support program to help farmers sell their produce at a higher price.
Gov. Aurelio “Oyie” Matias Umali said during the Provincial Food Council (PFC) meeting in Palayan City on Tuesday that the program is a big help to palay farmers who usually are taken advantage of by rice traders who purchase their palay at a lower price and sell it high in the market.
Umali said he hopes other provincial governments will adopt the program.
He also revealed during the meeting the provincial government's latest Carbon Credit Revenue received from the Alcom Carbon Markets Philippines Inc.
The Singapore-based carbon project developer acknowledged the provincial government's efforts in implementing Carbon Sequestration and Biochar Production Program.
Umali and Vice Gov. Gil Raymond “Kuya Lemon” Matias Umali received the carbon credit check.
The governor said that the program helped increase palay and onion harvest in the province.
