Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso spearheaded the road clearing for the safety of pedestrian in the streets of Manila.
Domagoso commended Barangay Chairwoman Edzel Acosta for proactively seeking assistance from the city to clear road obstructions in her community.
“Natutuwa tayo pag may katulad ni Barangay Chairwoman Edzel Acosta na nagkukusang tumawag sa pamahalaang lungsod, nang sa ganoon, maging maaliwalas ang siyudad (We’re glad to see leaders like Chairwoman Edzel Acosta who voluntarily coordinate with the city government to make our city more orderly),” Domagoso said.

He called on other barangay leaders to follow Acosta’s example and prioritize the welfare of their constituents.
Domagoso emphasized that the ultimate goal is to return public roads to the people.
“Ang gusto ko lang naman, maibalik lang sa tao ang mga kalsada at nang magamit nila, All I really want is to give the roads back to the people so they can use them),” he said.
The mayor believes that leadership by example at the barangay level can inspire citizens to adopt more disciplined behavior in public spaces.
The city also took action to address minor infrastructure issues that contribute to larger safety concerns.

Mayor Domagoso noted that while small details like crosswalks are often overlooked, neglecting them can lead to serious consequences.
He urged motorists to respect traffic markings, reminding them that every pedestrian could be someone’s family member.
The mayor warned that reckless driving will not be tolerated in the city, emphasizing that all violators of pedestrian safety rules would be penalized under existing laws.
“Sa Maynila, bawal ang kamoteng driver. Igalang ang pedestrian lane. Lahat ng lalabag ay ating huhulihin (In Manila, reckless drivers have no place. Respect the pedestrian lane. Violators will be apprehended)."
