House "Young Guns" member Zambales 1st district Rep. Jay Khonghun says the near majority trust rating gained by President Marcos shows that the latter is no "lame duck" president at the halfway point of his six-year tenure in Malacañang.
“President BBM remains to be a strong, an effective and a compassionate leader,” Khonghun said in a statement Tuesday, July 15.
The administration solon was reacting to the latest Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey results, which showed a massive 12 percentage point increase in President Marcos' trust rating.
From 36 percent in April this year, the Chief Executive's trust rating climbed to 48 percent in June.
Marcos will end his Palace term on June 30, 2028.
The same survey showed that the House of Representatives trust rating climbed by an impressive 23 percentage points over the last three months of the 19th Congress, or from 34 percent in April to 57 percent in June.
The SWS poll also reflected a similar increase in the trust level of Leyte 1st district Rep. Martin Romualdez, the House Speaker of the 19th Congress, over the same period. From 23 percent in April, Romualdez's trust rating surged to 34 percent in June.
“Our leader in the House is the principal ally of President BBM (Bongbong Marcos) in Congress. An improvement in the trust level of Speaker Romualdez and in our chamber means expanded support for PBBM and his Bagong Pilipinas and Agenda for Prosperity roadmap,” Khonghun said.
“The President can continue to rely on Speaker Romualdez to make his vision and programs a reality,” he added.
Romualdez is believed to be a shoo-in for the speakership in the 20th Congress.
