Caloocan LGU rescues 45 street dwellers in citywide ops
The Caloocan City Government has rescued 45 street dwellers, including senior citizens and minors, from the streets of North and South Caloocan.
The operations were led by the Caloocan Social Welfare Development Department (CSWDD). Those rescued were immediately given hot meals, clean clothes, slippers, and hygiene kits.
The CSWDD also offered counseling and livelihood support, and facilitated the safe return of several individuals to their families.

Among those rescued were senior citizens who, upon verification, were confirmed to be beneficiaries of the Office for Senior Citizens Affairs.
Two adults were screened for substance and illegal drug use and have been referred to the Caloocan City Anti-Drug Abuse Office and their respective barangays for appropriate intervention and assistance.
Mayor Dale Gonzalo “Along” Malapitan reiterated the city’s commitment to protecting vulnerable sectors and delivering inclusive services.
“Malaking problema sa bawat lungsod ang mga street dwellers, kabilang na po dito sa Caloocan. Kaya naman pinagsusumikapan namin na ma-rescue mula sa kalsada ang mga street dwellers, lalo na ang mga menor de edad at senior citizen upang mabigyan sila ng sapat na pagkalinga o maibalik sa kanilang mga tahanan," he said
The operation also addressed concerns involving rescued minors. A parenting effectiveness seminar was conducted for their parents and guardians, emphasizing responsible childcare and highlighting the legal consequences of neglect.
The parents signed an agreement with the local government pledging to provide proper care and supervision to their children.
