A 53-year-old street vendor died after she was hit and dragged by a bus along Commonwealth Avenue, Quezon City, on Sunday, July 13.
According to the police report, the bus driver allegedly lost control of the brakes and veered towards the sidewalk, hitting the vendor.
The bus only stopped when it hit the footbridge post.
The victim was immediately brought to East Avenue Medical Center for treatment, but later died due to the extent of her injuries.
Based on the initial investigation, the bus was unloading passengers when the driver noticed that the vehicle had lost its brakes.
The bus driver has been placed under the custody of the police and will face charges for reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and multiple damage to properties.
