Abante willing to lead quad-comm version 2.0

Manila 6th district Rep. Bienvenido "Benny" Abante Jr. is ready, willing, and raring to lead the House quad-committee (quad-comm) version 2.0 in the 20th Congress.
Abante made this declaration in a press conference Tuesday, July 15 less than two weeks before the House of Representatives reconvenes for the first time in the new Congress.
"Yes, of course. Oo (Yes), I will, definitely," the veteran congressman said when asked if he would accept leadership of the vaunted quad-comm, should it be offered to him.
Abante earlier said that the special four-way panel would indeed be reformed in the 20th Congress. It just so happens that among the four quad-comm co-chairmen in the previous Congress, Abante is the only one left.
He said the quad-comm must finish the job it started.
"Kasi sinimulan na namin eh. Sinimulan namin ng 19th Congress, marami na kami napag-usapan dyan, marami ng tinalakay yan, no. At naniniwala akong hindi pa tapos, eh (Because we’ve already started it. We began during the 19th Congress, there’s been a lot of discussion, a lot has already been tackled. And I believe it’s still unfinished)."
The quad-comm is composed of the Committees on Dangerous Drugs, Public Order and Safety, Human Rights, and Public Accounts.
Initially formed in August 2024, the quad-comm held a total of 15 marathon hearings on the alleged interconnected issues of (POGOs). extrajudicial killings (EJKs), money-laundering, illegal drugs, and former president Rodrigo Duterte's bloody war on drugs.
The highest profile witness or resource person who attended the series of marathon hearings held by the joint panel was ex-president Duterte himself.
Endlessly monetized by enterprising vloggers, the quad-comm hearings gave it's share of viral moments, and at its height was akin to a highly-rated television drama.
