CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga – The Police Regional Office-3 (PRO-3) on Monday announced its full readiness to bolster national security measures for President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s upcoming State-of-the-Nation Address (SONA) on July 28.
In a statement, PRO-3 chief Brig. Gen. Ponce Rogelio I. Peñones Jr. said the regional police would deploy 2,700 personnel forming part of Sub Task Group Central Luzon operating under the Philippine National Police’s (PNP) larger Task Force Manila Shield.
This deployment aligns with the directive from PNP chief Gen. Nicolas D. Torre III, aimed at strengthening security coordination in and around Metro Manila, particularly at the Batasang Pambansa Complex in Quezon City, where the SONA will take place.
“We are one with the PNP and the entire nation in ensuring the safe and peaceful conduct of SONA 2025,” Peñones was quoted as saying. “While we are fully prepared to maintain law and order, we also recognize the rights of our fellow Filipinos to freely express their views.”
Peñones assured that all PRO-3 personnel are trained to exercise maximum tolerance and uphold principles of discipline, professionalism, and respect for human rights.
As Marcos enters the second half of his term with his fourth SONA, heightened security protocols are expected across various key areas.
Peñones urged the public to cooperate with authorities and remain vigilant, adding that the PRO-3 deployment is part of a nationwide effort to ensure public safety and protect democratic space during one of the country’s most significant political events. (PNA)
