ZAMBOANGA CITY – Police Brig. Gen. Eleazar Pepito Matta was appointed as director of the Police Regional Office-9 based on a unit reassignment order from the national headquarters of the Philippine National Police in Camp Crame, Quezon City on July 11.
Matta was reassigned to his new post effective Monday, July 14.
Matta, former chief of the Highway Patrol Group, took over from Police Brig. Gen. Roel Rodolfo who was reassigned to lead the Police Regional Office-Mimaropa.
Police Col. Fidel Fortaleza Jr., Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO) chief, welcomed Matta on his arrival at the Zamboanga International Airport Sunday morning from Manila.
Also welcoming Matta were Police Brig. Gen. Romeo Espero Jr., PRO-9 deputy regional director for administration; Police Col. Narciso Paragas, OIC deputy regional director for operations, PRO-9, and ZCPO staff.
They pledged full support to Matta’s leadership and “reaffirmed their commitment to working together to ensure peace, order, and public safety across the region.”
Among the issues discussed were ongoing security initiatives and continuous improvement in police service in Zamboanga City.
