“Binabati ko si Acting PCO Secretary Dave Gomez (I congratulate Acting PCO Secretary Dave Gomez),” Marcos said in a Facebook post on Monday, July 14.
“Sa tagal ng kanyang karanasan sa media at serbisyo publiko, alam kong maipararating niya nang malinaw at tapat ang mensahe ng ating pamahalaan sa bawat Pilipino (With his extensive experience in media and public service, I am confident that he will be able to convey the message of our government to every Filipino clearly and truthfully),” Marcos expressed.
Marcos appointed Gomez on Thursday, July 10, as PCO chief, replacing Jay Ruiz who will be appointed as a member of the board of directors of Manila Economic Cultural Office in Taiwan.
'Unbiased performance audit'
Upon assuming the post, Gomez bared that he will be undertaking a performance audit of the entire agency.
He said he has yet to place a new set of officers within the PCO, citing the need to conduct an audit first.
“I need to conduct a fair, honest-to-goodness and unbiased performance audit of the office,” he said in an interview.
He did not set a timeline for the assessment, but he said it was “very urgent.”
ׅ“Wala pang (There is no) timeline but it's really very urgent. So, we started this morning, several more meetings this afternoon and tomorrow. All heads, I want to sit down with them one-on-one, conduct an honest-to-goodness audit performance audit,” Gomez said.
“It's a performance audit of the entire organization,” he further said.
