Korean star Park Seo Jun drew thousands of Filipinos over the weekend for a night of fun that sparked excitement.

The actor, who starred in the series “Itaewon Class,” “What's Wrong with Secretary Kim” and “Gyeongseong Creature,” was in the spotlight at Century Tuna’s “Fit For Any Role: Park Seo Jun The Ultimate Fan Fest” held on July 12 at the Araneta Coliseum.

Park Seo Jun, the newest endorser of Century Tuna, spent a great time with Filipino fans, playing games with them while a lucky fan who won a game got to spend two minutes with the star on stage.

Century Pacific Food Executive Vice President and the Chief Operating Officer Gregory Banzon revealed the “PSJ [Park Seo Jun] effect.”

“Then came that magic moment, what we call the PSJ effect. Since Park Seo Jun came on board, things just clicked. He brought authenticity, energy, and a deep resonance because of the awareness about what he is doing, and it enabled us to reach out to a broader consumer base. More than just a face in the can, he became an inspiration to many, someone who embodies discipline, versatility, and commitment, values that Century Tuna has been espousing for many years,” he said at Park Seo Jun press conference on July 12 at the Marco Polo Ortigas Manila before the fan meet.

Park Seo Jun said he was glad to be back in the Philippines.

“The fact that I'm here is making me so much happy but I'm also very sad that every time I visit here it's for a short time so I'm very glad to meet the people here, the Filipinos, but I'm also sad that we don't get to meet very long,” he said.

He said it was an honor to be part of the Century Tuna Superbods.

“When I first received a call from Century Tuna, at first, it was an honor for me to receive such a call, an invitation. Seeing how the brand is going in a direction and the causes it is supporting, it made me say yes and it was a great honor for me,” said Park Seo Jun.

Park Seo Jun was welcomed with loud cheers from the audience as he emerged on stage at the Ultimate Fan Fest.

Anne Curtis welcomed Park Seo Jun to the Century Tuna family.

“What an honor to share the stage with someone who is not only a K-drama superstar but also a perfect example for being fit for any role,” she said.

At the event, fans were chosen through a raffle to play games and be up close with Park Seo Jun .

One lucky fan who won the “Role Call with PSJ: Trivia Game” got to spend time with Park Seo Jun on stage in a special segment called “Two Minutes with PSJ.”

During the segment, the fan and Seo Jun spent time together revisiting five different scenes. The fan even received flowers from the actor.

“I’m happy to see you all. Though our time is short, I’m very happy to meet each and everyone of you,” he told the audience.

At the press conference, Park Seo Jun talked about getting fit and his upcoming Korean drama “Waiting for Kyungdo.”

On how he maintains a fit body and lifestyle, he said, “As time passed by, I realized that the most important health that we must maintain is our mental health. And for us to have a healthy mind, we must first have a healthy body. And for us to have a healthy body, if we have difficulties in running or starting a very difficult exercise, we can start by walking or doing simple exercise. And through that, by maintaining our physical health, we may also maintain our mental health,” he said.

For his daily exercise routine, Park Seo Jun said he does stretching for 30 minutes, weight training for 30 to 40 minutes and tries to run for 5 km.

He also talked about his favorite tuna dish, which he was able to eat during the filming for Century Tuna’s commercial.

“During our shoot, we had the time of eating tuna together with seaweed and when I ate that, I realized that this was like the most basic but the best way to eat Century Tuna,” he said.

He had fun while filming the commercial.

“I remember having so much fun during the shoot. And looking at the brand itself, it's very red, right? And it leaves a very strong impression. So that's what I remember the most about working with Century Tuna. I had so much fun,” he said.

On the “PSJ effect” among Filipinos, Park Seo Jun said, “From the airport last night, really, I received a very grand welcome from my Filipino fans. And if I think about it, a few years back, I would have never thought that the K-content would be this wide, the K-wave would be this wide. And seeing how the different contents have become more easily accessible, it has also become the reason why I'm also able to continue my works and also continue to share my different works to different people. So through that, also coming here and also meeting my Filipino fans and also having this event, I'm very happy that we have this connection together.”

Park Seo Jun will be starring in the romantic comedy “Waiting for Kyungdo” alongside actress Won Ji-an.

He said, “The reason I said yes to this role is because I realized or I think that this is the character that can show what I can do my best, the best things that I can do and it's actually a drama that tackles the first love that we all experience and I'm sure that even the common people.”

“I'm sure that you guys can relate through the different stories here because this is something that we all can experience especially for Koreans. And this is the reason why I chose this role and said yes to the role,” he added.

At the press conference, Park Seo Jun was given a special certificate of appreciation as a Century Tuna Proud Sea Saver.

The recognition was for his help in bringing fans together to support plastic recovery efforts to preserve oceans for future generations.
