Ground-penetrating radar deployed in search for foreman missing in landslide
TACLOBAN CITY – The Office of Civil Defense continues search, retrieval, and clearing operations for the foreman reported missing in a landslide on Sunday morning, July 13, in Barangay San Ramon, San Ricardo, Southern Leyte.
OCD-8 Regional Director Lord Byron Torrecarion disclosed that they have deployed ground-penetrating radar as the likelihood of finding Dador Moscosa, 54, foreman of 888 ACY construction, alive continues to decrease.
Authorities said two houses, several motorcycles, the contractor’s barracks, a dump truck, and a mixer were destroyed in the landslide.
The incident occurred at the site of the ongoing bridge project connecting Barangay San Ramon.
The landslide was reportedly caused by continuous and intense rainfall that began at 5 p.m. on July 12 and lasted until 3 a.m. on July 13.
Police, Bureau of Fire Protection, Coast Guard, barangay officials, and residents are conducting search and rescue operations.
Several families evacuated to nearby barangays as a precautionary measure.
