Dagohoy solar plant in Bohol to begin commercial operations
Yuchengco-led PetroEnergy Resources Corp. (PERC) announced that the Dagohoy solar power plant (DSPP) in Bohol is set to begin commercial operations following the go signal from the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) and the Independent Electricity Market Operator of the Philippines Inc. (IEMOP).
In a disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) on Monday, July 14, the company said the 27.121-megawatt alternating current (MWdc) DSPP has received a provisional authority to operate (PAO) from the ERC, while IEMOP has approved the facility’s commercial operations in the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM).
According to Dave Gadiano, PetroGreen Energy Corp.’s (PGEC) assistant vice president, their participation in the spot market would allow them to enter power supply deals.
“Our formal commercial participation in the WESM also marks the commencement of our power supply agreement (PSA) with our offtaker SN Aboitiz Power (SNAP),” he said.
“We are proud that our Dagohoy solar power facility is set to begin commercial operations in Bohol, adding much needed indigenous and clean energy in the province.”
Gadiano highlighted that Bohol has relied heavily on imported power from other provinces, with only a few diesel and hydro power plants contributing to the island’s energy sources.
DSPP is among the four utility-scale ground-mounted solar projects of Rizal Green Energy Corp. (RGEC), a joint venture of PGEC and Japan’s Taisei Corp.
Other projects include the 19.61-MWdc San Jose plant in Nueva Ecija, which is awaiting green light from the ERC and IEMOP before commencing operations; 25-MWdc Bugallon plant in Pangasinan; and 39.84-MWdc Limbauan solar plant in Isabela.
The Bugallon and Limbauan plants are slated for completion before the end of 2025.
