ILOILO CITY – Police seized more than P169-million worth of illegal drugs in Western Visayas region in the first half of the year.
Data released by the Police Regional Office-6 said 24.55 kilos of suspected shabu worth P166.9 million and 17.315 kilos of marijuana valued at P2 million were confiscated.
Eight-hundred three drug suspects, including the 237 high-value targets, were arrested from Jan. 1 to June 30.
The Iloilo City Police Office recovered P71.4 million worth of contraband, followed by the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) with P63.5 million, and Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit (RPDEU) with P21.6 million.
Majority of the operations were conducted during Police Brig. Gen. Jack Wanky’s tenure.
Newly installed PRO-6 chief Police Brig. Gen. Josefino Ligan assured that they will continue the anti-drug campaign in partnership with various government agencies and other stakeholders.
“With their support, we can identify those engaged in these unlawful activities and hold them accountable,” Ligan added.
