The Top Supermodel Australia contest has announced that its preliminary competition will be held in Manila in September.
Top Supermodel creator and founder Michelle Membrere said that the 25 lovely contestants from Australia are coming to Manila for the pre-finals show.
"There will be no Filipino contestants in this competition. All models are Australians. And during the preliminary show, all the Australian contestants will wear Filipino creations," said Michelle during the media conference.
When asked if Top Supermodel is a beauty pageant or a fashion show, Michelle explained: "It's up to the people to determine if we are a fashion show or beauty contest. We're not going to define it. It's all up to you guys. There is no category or proper terminology for us. Let the people judge, or let the public tell the story about us. You can call them models or candidates."
Also joining the media conference were co-founder Maria Cristina Cuyugan and co-owner Reniel Torres.
Three of the 25 Australian contestants also graced the press conference. They were Jordan Michelle Smith (Melbourne), Gracie Baker (Sydney), and Stevie Hearl (Adelaide), who shared their advocacies with the entertainment press.
The Top Supermodel Australia contest aims to showcase talent while fostering cross-cultural initiatives and promoting socio-economic development.
The first event is the Preliminary and International Runway, part of the Fashion Canvas, which will take place in Intramuros, Manila, on Sept. 5 and 6.

This graded show will feature candidates who will be judged on their runway performance, creativity, and ability to embody the vision of cultural diversity.
"It promises to be a dazzling display of fashion excellence, highlighting both local and international designers," Michelle added.
The Fashion Canvass aims to celebrate the rich cultural heritage of the Philippines while allowing candidates to showcase their unique stories through fashion.
"This immersive experience will not only elevate the profiles of emerging talents but also engage the audience in meaningful conversations about the importance of diversity in the fashion industry," she also said.
Following the Preliminary and International Runway events, the TTSM Kaleidoscope runway show will feature six local government unit (LGU) partners, spotlighting their unique cultural identities and contributions to the fashion landscape.
"We will have one winner for the contest. She will get 10,000 Australian dollars and prizes from our sponsors and partners. One of the most exciting prizes for the winner is that she will host a digital show called Fashion Microphone on Top Supermodel Channel TV, which we are producing," said Michelle.
She added, "Top Supermodel is an Australian brand. We have practices from pageantry that we would bring to fashion: first is advocacy, and second is the speaking ability."
Michelle said the Top Supermodel will introduce a different model. "We have models for ads and billboards. But we are introducing fusion models that are speakers."
On the reason why the preliminary contest will be held in Manila, Michelle said: "We are promoting a cross-cultural program here. We want to merge the cultures of Australia and the Philippines. The Philippines is also the home of the first Filipino supermodel, Anna Bayle. And of course, the Philippines is one of the countries to beat in the pageant world. So we have fashion, modelling, and pageantry. The Philippines is a perfect destination for the cross-cultural program."
