Bye, 'kamote' drivers: Manila LGU receives 100 body cams for traffic management
Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso on Saturday, July 12, received 100 body cameras intended for use by the city’s traffic enforcers to support efforts in improving traffic management and promoting road discipline.
The mayor said the cameras will help identify reckless drivers and corrupt enforcers and, at the same time, recognize law-abiding motorists and honest members of the city's enforcement team.
He added that the devices can also help prevent disputes over traffic violations.
Domagoso said discipline should start with those in authority, who must lead by example for the people.
“Unti-unti, lilinisin natin ang ating hanay. Kung tayo ay humihingi ng disiplina sa ating mga kababayan, dapat tayo rin ay maging disiplinado at unang magpakita ng magandang halimbawa (Step by step, we will clean up our ranks. If we ask our people to be disciplined, then we must be the first to show discipline and lead by example),” he said.
He expressed gratitude to the Canton Chamber of Commerce Philippines, led by President Kevin Lim, Vice Presidents Blues Chua and Leo Lai, and members Wu Guang Tao, Zhang Jia Ming, Cai Fengrui, and Weijia Li, for donating the cameras.
