Police have arrested another suspect in the murder of University of the Philippines Manila student Sophia Coquilla in Tagum City on July 9.
The 15-year-old suspect was apprehended in a follow-up operation on July 10 at 12:05 a.m. in Purok Lemonsito, Barangay Mankilam, Tagum City.
Lawmen had earlier arrested two suspects aged 14 and 17.
Recovered from them were the 19-year-old victim's belongings.
The three suspects are natives of Maragusan, Davao de Oro.
Only one suspect remains, an 18-year-old resident of Mati City.
The suspects were identified thru CCTV cameras near the victim's house.
The victim was on vacation when she was killed.
She sustained 38 stab wounds and her body was discovered by her parents.
Her stolen belongings were discovered in the suspects' possession.
The suspects who face appropriate cases killed the victim when she saw them after she was awakened.
Davao del Norte police chief Police Col. Alexander Serrano Jr. lauded operating units for the arrest of the suspects who are under the custody of the Women and Children Protection Desk (WCPD) for appropriate assessment and disposition.
