Passengers traveling through Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA) are currently experiencing flight delays and schedule changes as authorities conduct runway condition checks.
In a Facebook post on Saturday, July 12, MCIA said the delays are direct result of ongoing inspections and necessary repairs being carried out on the airport's runway.
The MCIA advisory, however, did not specify an exact timeline for the completion of the runway repairs.
“Our teams are carrying out inspections and necessary repairs as quickly and safely as possible,” MCIA said. “Passenger safety is our top priority, and we are working closely with airlines to minimize disruption.”
MCIA, meanwhile, urged passengers to contact their respective airlines for the most up-to-date information regarding their flights and any further developments.
“We apologize for the inconvenience and we thank all travelers for their patience,” MCIA said.
The airport operator has not disclosed the exact number of affected flights and passengers.
