San Miguel Beer teammates June Mar Fajardo and CJ Perez are locked in a two-way battle for the Best Player of the Conference (BPC) award in the PBA Philippine Cup.
Fajardo remains the front-runner for the top individual honor, having consistently led the statistical race from the eliminations through the semifinals.
The 6-foot-10 cornerstone of SMB compiled a total of 39.6 statistical points (SPs), anchored on averages of 16.0 points, a league-best 13.9 rebounds, 3.2 assists, and 1.1 blocks per game.
Following closely behind are NLEX’s Robert Bolick and Perez, with the latter emerging as the most legitimate challenger to Fajardo’s bid for a record-extending 12th BPC award.
Perez has remained in top form through the playoffs and the ongoing Finals, tallying 35.4 SPs on the back of 20.7 points, 4.3 rebounds, 4.2 assists, and 1.5 steals per outing.
Bolick sits in third place with 36.6 SPs, thanks to his stellar averages of 19.2 points, 6.5 rebounds, and a league-leading 6.6 assists. However, his chances were all but dashed after NLEX failed to advance past the quarterfinals despite holding a twice-to-beat advantage.
Rounding out the top five are Phoenix forward Jason Perkins and Magnolia center Zav Lucero.
Perkins, despite his team missing the playoffs, remained in the mix with 36.3 SPs, highlighted by a league-best 23.2 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game.

Lucero, meanwhile, posted solid numbers of 18.2 points, 7.8 rebounds, 2.1 assists, and a league-best 1.5 blocks for a total of 35.2 SPs. But like Bolick, his campaign ended early after Magnolia squandered a twice-to-beat edge and lost two heartbreakers to TNT in the quarterfinals.
The BPC award will be handed out during Game 4 of the best-of-seven Philippine Cup Finals between San Miguel Beer and TNT.
