BACOLOD CITY – The Provincial Health Office (PHO) has recorded a total of 828 cases of hand, foot, and mouth disease (HFMD) in Negros Occidental as of June 28.
According to the PHO, it is 246.44 percent higher compared to the same period in 2024 with only 239 cases.
Twenty-seven out of 31 local government units (LGUs) in the province have at least one HFMD case.
Bago City topped the list with 241 cases, followed by Cadiz City with 105, Victorias City, 76; Manapla, 66; La Carlota City, 53; Talisay City, 42; Cauayan, 33; Pulupandan, 29; Kabankalan City, 24, and Salvador Benedicto, 22.
The PHO said that age group with the most cases are from one- to 10-years-old. No fatalities have been reported.
Health authorities advised the public to help curb the spread of HFMD by promoting proper hygiene among children, including regular handwashing, avoiding face-touching, and disinfecting shared objects.
