The public can now renew their driver’s license online as the Land Transportation Office (LTO) seeks to streamline the process, eliminate red tape and long queues at local offices, and make it more accessible for motorists nationwide.
LTO Chief, Asst. Sec. Vigor D. Mendoza II said the renewal of driver’s license can be made via the eGovPH application, enabling them to transact with their clients in a fast and comfortable way even if they are in their homes or offices.
“This is a better alternative for going to LTO offices since you don’t need to shell out money for transportation to our offices and don’t even need to queue in any license renewal offices,” said Mendoza.
Clients need to download and install the eGovPH application in their smartphones to avail of the digital transaction.
Through the eGovPH application, they would find the icon “NGA” which refers to national government agency, and locate LTO. There, they would be able to select an online application for driver’s license where they could renew it.
To avoid illegal transactions, a client would be required to upload or capture the front and back portions of their physical driver’s license. It will undergo a short validation and after a complete review, the client should hit the submit button and take a photo of themselves for verification.
The client will also be required to upload several requirements during the online transaction including a telemedicine medical examination which can be found in the application. The client will also need to complete an online driver’s enhancement program in the app.
The final step would be payment of the corresponding renewal fee via online transaction.
Mendoza said a successful transaction means the driver’s license is already renewed, adding that an electronic driver’s license is also automatically generated and can be viewed in the eGovPH app.
He emphasized that the e-license is valid as the physical card. However, clients who want to obtain a physically renewed driver’s license could do so by picking it up at the nearest LTO office or choosing a courier provider for door-to-door delivery.
“All of these digitalization efforts are intended to make all transactions in the LTO fast and comfortable to all our clients as instructed by President Marcos through Secretary Dizon. We are continue evolving to further improve our digital services and expand the reach to all Filipinos even in abroad,” Mendoza shared.
