Fresh mandates for elected officials

Last June 30, 2025, at 12 noon, elected officials across the Philippines officially began their terms in office. For some, it marked the start of their first mandate. For others, it was the continuation of their service.
As mayor of San Juan City, now on my third and final term, I extend my congratulations to every public servant in the country entrusted with a mandate to lead. We were chosen. We earned their trust. The Filipino people weighed every promise and every plan we articulated to them before deciding who would carry their hopes forward.
According to the Comelec, more than 55 million Filipinos cast their votes last May 12. An 81.65 percent voter turnout — the highest in our nation’s history in terms of midterm elections. That is not just a statistic. That is a nation demanding results. They went out to vote for us; it’s our turn to prove to them that they made the right choice.
During the campaign, we presented road maps toward better lives. Starting today, these must become policies, programs, and outcomes. Because public service is not just about plans. It is about results. It is about performance that is seen, felt, and remembered. Leaders must deliver.
People do not care about titles or speeches. They care about leaders who act. Leaders who bring solutions. Leaders who uplift peoples’ lives.
Six years for senators. Three years for congressmen, governors, vice governors, provincial board members, mayors, vice mayors, and councilors. Let us make the most out of this opportunity given to us by our people. From day one up to the last day of our terms, let us show them that we deserve the mandate we received.
To all my fellow elected public servants, let us serve our people well with utmost honesty, integrity, dedication, and perseverance.
Let us do everything we can to uplift the lives of our constituents. Not everyone gets an opportunity to be elected into public service.
Let us push ourselves to be the best public servants we can possibly be and finish our terms with no regrets, knowing that we were able to implement the projects and programs that we had promised to do for our people during our tenure.
