Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) Secretary Jose Ramon Aliling has directed all regional offices to implement a coordinated and proactive shelter response in line with the government’s intensified preparations for the typhoon season.
In a memorandum dated July 10, Aliling underscored the urgency of unified action across all regions to ensure timely and effective delivery of shelter assistance amid heightened disaster risks.
“You are hereby directed to adopt an anticipatory and proactive approach to ensure that strategies and actions are aligned with the overall response objectives,” he stated, reminding field officials of their responsibility in leading shelter-related efforts.
He also instructed regional heads to closely coordinate with local government units (LGUs), shelter agencies, and humanitarian partners to ensure inclusive and efficient program implementation.
Aliling emphasized the importance of real-time public communication on government shelter assistance, particularly under the Integrated Disaster Shelter Assistance Program (IDSAP).
To support responsive action, field offices were ordered to submit daily situational reports to the Office of the Undersecretary for Disaster Response.
“Let’s continue to be proactive and collaborative. Your dedication and hard work are important in ensuring safe shelter for those who need it most,” he said.
