LEGAZPI CITY – The provincial government of Albay has begun enforcing a ban on 12-wheel trucks and larger vehicles from plying certain roads in the province.
Under Executive Order (EO) 5, issued Thursday night, Gov. Noel Rosal said the ban aims to prevent further damage to provincial, city, municipal, and barangay roads.
"The prohibition mentioned shall only be temporary, pending the development of a comprehensive road improvement plan for Albay and/or amendments to Provincial Ordinance No. 99-009 (Provincial Traffic Safety Code of the Province of Albay)," Rosal said.
Trucks found violating this ban could face permit revocation.
The EO is based on Section 16 of the Local Government Code of 1991 that empowers local chief executives to adopt measures that promote the general welfare of their constituents. (PNA)
