BACOLOD CITY – Three persons were shot and wounded by two men on a motorcycle in Barangays Lantad and Rizal in Silay City, Negros Occidental on Thursday, July 10.
Police identified the victims as Chris, 47, of Barangay Lantad, Silay City, a security guard; Fernando, 52, of Barangay Lantad, Silay City, an electric-bike (e-bike) driver; and Wil, 45, of Victorias City, Negros Occidental, a maintenance personnel of an amusement park in Silay City.
Police Lt. Col. Mark Anthony Darroca, Silay police chief, said that the gunman had just visited his cousin in Barangay Lantad when he went on a shooting spree.
Darroca said the gunman appeared two weeks after he left his home in E.B. Magalona, Negros Occidental. His family had no idea about his activities when he disappeared.
Investigation said Chris was driving a motorcycle when the suspects passed by and shot him in the thigh.
The suspects proceeded to Barangay Rizal and shot Fernando who sitting on an bike in the abdomen. The suspects also shot and wounded Wil who was driving a motorcycle in the right butt.
The victims are recuperating in hospitals, according to Darroca.
Darroca said they have yet to establish the motive of the attacks but according to some relatives, the gunman armed with a .45 caliber pistol and the subject of a pursuit allegedly has been hallucinating.
Police are negotiating with the family for his peaceful surrender and also tracking his companion.
