3 dead as dump truck falls into canal in Leyte

TACLOBAN CITY – Three people were killed after a dump truck plunged into a canal in Barangay Calaguise, Leyte, Leyte, on Thursday, July 10.
Police identified one of the fatalities as Oliver, 38.
Investigation said driver Ricky, 44, lost control of the dump truck after its brakes failed and veered off the road and fell into a drainage canal.
Ricky and 14 passengers sustained injuries.
Oliver was taken to the Rural Health Unit where he was declared dead.
The two other fatalities died while undergoing treatment.
The injured were taken to the Rural Health Unit for initial treatment and referred to a hospital in Ormoc City for further medical attention.
