The city government of Pasay City and GCash signed an agreement for the expedited release of Travel City Scholars assistance during the launch of the Electronic Mamamayan Identification Card (EMI Card), a convenient and hassle-free system for distributing financial benefits, on July 9 at the Pasay City Astrodome.
Pasay City Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano said the disbursement of assistance for the city’s Travel Scholars will be made easier and faster by sending it to the beneficiaries through GCash.
“Dahil we want nothing but the best for our Pasayeños, tayo po ay nakipag-ugnayan sa mga pioneers ng online wallet platforms, ang GCash, na kasama natin in all steps of the way towards this momentous event. Kaya maraming salamat sa GCash, in believing in what we have always advocated for: collaboration in the form of public-private partnerships, na alam nating magbibigay daan sa mas progresibo at mas asensado,” ( Since we want nothing but the best for our Pasayeños, we coordinated with pioneers of online wallet platforms, GCash, who will be with us in all steps towards this momentous event. Thank you, GCash, for believing in what we have always advocated for, collaboration in the form of public-private partnership, Rubiano said.
The mayor said that after the signing of the agreement with GCash, 1,700 students in the first batch received their electronic cards, or the EMI Cards.
Rubiano said the student beneficiaries of financial assistance will receive the EMI card to eliminate waiting time, transaction delays, and the lengthy process of allowance distribution from the city government.
She also said the digital disbursement of allowances and other cash benefits is part of the city government's initiative to modernize its financial assistance programs.
