Filipino director's entry wins at 29th Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival

The 29th Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival (BIFAN) headed by Festival Director Shin Chul announced the winners of the NAFF (Network of Asian Fantastic Films ) Project Market awards.
The BIFAN+ Awards Ceremony was held on July 8 at the Convention Hall of the Bucheon Webtoon Convergence Center in South Korea.
In the Cash Awards category, Filipino director Carlo Francisco Manatad’s film “Brilliant Melody,” a production of the Philippines, France and Indonesia, won two awards.
“Brilliant Melody” won the Bucheon Award with a cash incentive of 10 million won (about $7,295) and the VIPO Award with a cash incentive of 500,000 yen (about $3,420).

The CNC Award was given to “Don't Worry About Vampires” (Taiwan), directed by Chen Ho-yu. The NAFF Award went to “Triangle” (Spain), directed by Joseph Diaz.
The Asian Discovery Award was presented to “Wash Away” (Japan), directed by Miyahara Takuya, while the Korean Discovery Award went to “Vairocana: Three Tales” (Korea), directed by Chung Huibin.
The NAFF Korean Award was awarded to “Lynx” (Korea), directed by Ha Myungmi. The DHL Award was presented to “Koko” (Finland/USA), directed by Hanna Vastinsalo.
In the Post-production Support category, the SBA Award Post Production Support Award was presented to “Brunch for a Depressed Zombie” (Korea), directed by Kim Eunyoung and “The Second Child” (Korea) directed by Yu Eunjeong. The awards include Includes DI (Digital Intermediate), sound mixing, digital mastering, and support equivalent to 50 million won (about $36,472).
The Mocha Chai Award was given to “Fuxi: Joy in the Four Chapters” (Taiwan/Hong Kong/Japan/France) directed by Qiu Jiongjiong and “Lovely Ugly Your Friend” (Japan) directed by Yasukawa Yuka, each receiving post-production support worth $35,000.
The Kantana Post Award was granted to “Under” (Korea) directed by Son Ho-seung and Ahn Jeong-min, while the Kantana Sound Award was awarded to “Tunda” (Korea) directed by Lee Yong-seuk.
The Abnormal Studios Award was given to “Unhearable” (Hong Kong) directed by Stanley Wong, and the Abnormal Studio Award for Post Production and Marketing & Distribution was presented to “Inheritance” (Malaysia/Singapore/Indonesia) directed by Joel Soh.
The BIFAN 2025 will run until July 13 at venues across Bucheon City.
