Brother of ex-President Duterte adviser nabbed in Pasay City

The brother of Michael Yang, former adviser of ex-President Rodrigo Duterte, was arrested in Pasay City on Wednesday night, July 9, for falsification of public documents, perjury, and violation of the law regulating the use of aliases.
Col. Joselito De Sesto, Pasay City Police chief, said the suspect, identified as Jianxin Yang, 54, a resident of Alwana Village, Cugman, Cagayan de Oro, was apprehended by members of the Warrant and Subpoena Section (WSS) at around 6:30 p.m. at Nasdake Building, William St., Barangay 13. He allegedly used multiple aliases including Antonio Lim, Tony Lim, and Tony Yang.
De Sesto said Yang was nabbed based on a warrant issued by Judge Elueteria Apdian Badoles-Algodon, Presiding Judge of the Supreme Court, Municipal Trial Court in Cities, 10th Judicial Region, Branch 2, Cagayan de Oro City, dated November 22, 2024.
Judge Algodon recommended bail of P36,000 for falsification of a public documents, P18,000 for perjury, and P30,000 for violation of the law on aliases.
Yang is reportedly the elder brother of Micahel Yang, the former economic adviser of the former President, who was previously linked to illegal drug activities.
As of press time, De Sesto said no further information has surfaced about the older Yan'gs alleged illegal activities beyond the three charges filed against him.
Yang, reportedly an illegal alien who has resided in the country for almost 30 years, was initially arrested on September 19, 2024 at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 by the Bureau of Immigration Fugitive Search Unit and Intelligence Division, in coordination with the Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission, following his arrival from Cagayan de Oro.
He is currently detained at the Pasay City Police custodial facility.
