The city government of Pasay launched the Electronic Mamamayan Identification Card or EMI Card, a convenient and hassle-free system for distribution of financial benefits, on July 9 at the Pasay City Astrodome.
Pasay City Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano said the student beneficiaries of financial assistance will receive the EMI card to eliminate waiting time, transaction delays, and the lengthy process of allowance distribution from the city government.
Rubiano said around 1,700 students in the first batch received their electronic cards, which function as ATM cards where their allowances will be deposited.
In addition to the EMI Cards, E-Wallet Cards from G-cash were also distributed to Travel City Scholars students during the launch.
The mayor said the e-cards are intended to help students develop financial responsibility and save money for their studies.
Rubiano said the digital disbursement of allowances and other cash benefits is part of the city government's initiative to modernize its financial assistance programs.
